She grabs for each of us
As we walk our separate ways.
She cries, and begs us to stay.
So we can be friends again.
Just like older days.
But she decides, to run by my side.
I smile, taking her hand in mine.
I pull her close, thinking things are fine.
Ignoring the way she cries.
She too smiles, but only briefly.
With a kiss, and a touch so measly.
Struggling, wanting to break free.
Ever so eager to leave me.
She goes about, on her own.
Leaving me behind, on my solitary throne.
Wishing she’d come back and take me home.
But I made mistakes, and so now I’m on my own.
Thinking that I have no one else to blame.
Simply put, I deserve to be alone.
