“Flowers”

If I were to die first
Do not mourn my death.
Smile, and brace tomorrow
With a courage that I did not possess.

Raindrops left upon my grave.
A lonely stone atop the grass.
In a field of lives unsaved.
I stand and watch as time goes past.
A ceremony for the ones we’ve lost.
With residents left to mourn.
Such a cruel life we’ve sought.
One that’s left such people scorned.
As things fall to an end
And dawn turns to dusk
I’m left with just a single friend
Flowers, from the one I love.

“Hope.”

We accept the love we think we deserve.
Is there any way to believe that we deserve more?
We can try.

It’s fall again.
I’m back to wishing we could pretend.
That things were young, and we were free.
Back when only I knew you, and you knew me.
Went our separate ways while hoping for better days.
Nights grew cold, and I lost the place where I could stay.
Alone at night, without your love.
You’re the only one I’m thinking of.
The thought of you, is filled with grief and sorrow.
But maybe, just maybe.
I’ll wake up to you tomorrow.
