“Feel”

The rhythm of your heart
Matches the steps in my dance

Your midnight kiss
Leaves me in a trance

Dance.
Feel the beat.
Move with me.
Match my feet.
Love.
Your hands on mine.
Your loving touch.
The way our lips intertwine.
Live.
Learn to be alive.
Help me realize this is real.
I wanna do more than just survive.
I wanna learn to feel.

“I’m alright.”

Sometimes, I wish I didn’t exist.
But I move forward, clenching my fists, gritting my teeth.
Hiding my hands, and hope that they can’t see my bleeding feet.

I’m alright.
I say through clenched teeth.
Scars on my face, walking with broken feet.
Bleeding hands, and steps with no beat.
I promise.
I say through crossed fingers
Hoping this feeling doesn’t linger.
But you don’t care either.
I’m fine.
I say through tears.
Wishing I had never met you, all these years.
Building me up, just to break me down, and fill me with fear.
Goodbye.
I say through barely blinking eyes.
With downcast stares, and lonely sighs.
Alone again, and I wonder why
Why I ever bothered, why I even try
When in the end, I sit alone and cry.

“Reflection”

I think if given the opportunity
I’d have stayed in bed that day.

I want you to know I hate you.
I genuinely hate you.

She fucked me up too early.
She cared about me too late.
She wanted to love until the morning.
She kept telling me it was fate.
She took my love, and split it in two.
She fucked around with men she barely knew.
She told me that she’d always stay.
She told me that she wouldn’t run away.
Everyone says the same things.
Promises that they’ll always stay.
And I’ve been with enough people to know
I shouldn’t believe in better days.

“Come again.”

Let’s promise
That when the day is done

When the nights are long
I can come home to you.

Winter stars, and December nights
Make me wish, that you were still mine.
Cooking alone, sat on the floor.
Wishing you were here, wishing we were more.
Walking alone, in the dark, by myself
Hoping you can hear me, screaming for your help.
But when we talk, it’s like we’re less than friends.
As if you want to forget, that we ever happened.
So I’ll sit here, alone, by myself, and pretend
That we can still be together.
And I’ll hope, I’ll dream, I’ll wish
That December can come again.

“Last to go.”

Some of us were meant to be surrounded by friends.

Some of us were meant to feel love, and care, and affection.

But a small handful of people

Were meant to be alone

To bear the weight of the souls, left in the dark.

She asks me why I drink.
I tell her, so I can smile.
Not knowing what she really means.
She asks me why I smoke.
I tell her, so I can breathe.
Not knowing why she feels alone.
She asks me why I cry.
I tell her, so I don’t get mad.
Not knowing she feels just as sad.
She asks me why I left.
I can’t speak.
As the bullet travels through my head.

“Empty.”

The worst feeling in the world isn’t pain. It isn’t sadness. It isn’t anger. No, the worst feeling is never being able to share those feelings with anyone else.

She read my thoughts, on paper and pen.
She cried, and promised I’d never write like this again.
She held me close, and ran her fingers through my hair.
I felt no comfort; only despair.
I held on to my feelings, and never let one slip out.
Even when I was at the end, wanting to scream and shout.
I was right to be scared.
After so long, she gave up, leaving me with no one there.
It happens, time and time again.
Promises of feelings shown on more than paper and pen.
Yet like always
Again and again
I’m alone, regardless of promises, in the end.

“Beautiful.”

Regardless of how it started
Regardless of how it began
Regardless of the twists and turns

Regardless, I know how it ends.

I still think you’re beautiful.
Despite the cuts and bruises.
Despite the tears and cries.
I still think you’re beautiful.
Even when you smile, and when you laugh.
Even when you trip, and when you fall.
I still think you’re beautiful.
Even as you left me in the dirt.
Even as I watched you pass me by.
Even as I sat alone, begging you to hear me cry.
Even as I hurt, and pained.
Despite all of that
I still think you’re beautiful.

“Barely Moving.”

Sometimes, despite everything

We still have to keep moving.

Its how we keep ourselves alive, y’know?

Tired.
Barely moving.
A step carries a thousand pounds.
A door weighs a hundred tons.
All the worse, with a soul that weighs you down.

Hungry.
But I can’t eat.
The spoon won’t lift.
My arms won’t move.
I sit alone at a table meant for two.
Where are you?

Sad.
But I can’t cry.
I stare at an empty wall
With a bottle in my hand.
I hang from the ceiling.
My feet in the air.
Unable to land.

“Where’d you go?”

I never thought I’d miss you this much.

I never thought you’d stay on my mind this long.

I’m sorry. I just can’t let go.

My room’s a mess.
You’re in my head.
I think I’m dead.
Where’d you go?
I’m alone.
I’m by myself.
I scream for help.
Where’d you go?
I miss your lips.
I miss your arms.
I miss your soul.
Where’d you go?
Just let me go.
Please let me go.
I’m all alone.
Where the hell did you go?
